Pasta and Pasta is a recent addition to the Albir restaurants gastronomic scene. Opened in early 2020 in the middle of a global pandemic, which caused it’s own difficulties.
At first you have to get used to the opening times. Initially it seemed this was just a lunchtime restaurant, but they have recently started opening Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings too.
As you would suspect the menu consists of mainly different pasta dishes. All the pasta is home made and extremely fresh. You can tell the difference of a fresh home made pasta immediately. You can choose from spaghetti, tagliatelle, ravioli, gnocchi and lasagna with various sauces. They have many vegetarian options and also offer vegan and gluten free pastas.
The staff are mainly Italian and speak a little Spanish and English. They are very helpful explaining the different menu options. They also offered a small pizza selection on a Thursday or Friday evening. The dining room is large and spacious with plenty of room between tables as required in this time of social distancing.
Fresh and Delicious
Fresh pasta is always the best and the spaghetti amatriciana was cooked to perfection. It has just the right amount of spice and the pecorino used (replacing the standard usually used parmesan) was a lovely touch. At first sight the dishes look small, but don’t be fooled. There is plenty on the plate. The fresh gnocchi was also delicately made and fused with a mascarpone and saffron sauce, soft and melt in the mouth.
The price of the meal here was also a pleasant surprise. We did not have starters or dessert. The two main courses with two drinks each, wine, beer and house liquer. The total bill was around €25, which for fresh food in an upscale restaurant is very reasonable.
